Welcome to the Jungle: Los Angeles #1

We've hit the coast, people. After four days on the road, we pulled into Los Angeles sometime yesterday afternoon. Of course, it took us another hour and a half to get to Santa Monica. But, we're happy to be here even if everyone drives like maniacs and all the girls look like Lindsay Lohan.

Now that we're here, it's time to recharge the batteries. Easier said than done.

Now, Emma with the ever ZANY and HILARIOUS captions.

We were in Arizona for exactly twenty-six minutes.

Nevada made Mike one contemplative cowboy.

In Las Vegas, we got an oil change. Here are some thoughts on Las Vegas: bad bad bad. The people here actually manage to come off as more scummy than the people in Florida. (That was Mike, in case you couldn't tell.) Here, we leave, passing New York, New York.

Ah, California. But we're so hungry! What are we to do?!

Luckily, I have a smart brother. He sent us to the Mad Greek, in Baker.

Even from behind, you can tell I'm impressed.

Mike, gyro, and Hercules.

Baker is also home to the World's Largest Thermometer. It was 108 degrees.

When we got to the ocean, we jumped for joy.

Mike's joy got significantly more hang-time.

The other thing they have in Baker is a store called Alien Jerky. Ben's wish was our command.

The Santa Monica Farmer's Market was full of peaches and flowers. Tom Colicchio coughed on us, but Mike didn't even notice because he was so excited about his blood orange juice.

Here's a tip: when someone hands you something, eat it.

A scone, of the non-fried variety.

Good font, good baked goods, good good good.

I mean, really.

When boy meets ocean.

And, to my great delight, the first taco of the trip.

Next time, more special guest stars!

love
E + M
