California: No Sur

Ah, Northern California. What a cruel mistress you are. After leaving LA, we were ready for a little R & R at the Esalen Institute. I guess we forgot to alert Big Sur, however, because there wasn't a hotel room for about a hundred miles. Ah well! We didn't need those hippies to help us relax. Instead we headed straight for San Francisco, and burritos as big as Mike's big head. Hooray!

En route, strawberries.

They say happy cows live in California, but we know the truth.

Madonna has probably never slept here and neither did we.

Somewhere south of Big Sur, the natives got friendly.

Some of the natives were larger than others.

Monster Park eats people.

We had the greenest bathroom in San Francisco.

Fiesta Alex.

The bestest burrito in San Fransisco.

Digesting in the park.

There was music playing.

Then we found Lydia!

The De Young Museum is free if you get there right as it's closing.

They had cool silhouettes of cutlery on the walls.

And pictures of Nan Kempner's shoes and jewels.

I'm so techno! My shirt, the background. Inst inst inst inst.

Lauren sent us to Pizzeria Delfina. It was perfect.

Almost as perfect as Harry Potter in 3-D. In fact, the pizza was a lot better, but they didn't give us glasses. The only movie that deserves to be in 3-D is Friday the 13th: 3-D.

Then Emma got her yoga on.

Next stop, Napa. Mud baths and Fried Chicken Monday. We can't wait.

love, m + e
